31. The Thesis

This blog was created to follow the fieldwork of my Ph.D project in Ilha de Mozambique. On the 27th of November 2014 the thesis was defended and accepted unanimously by a jury composed of Antoni Folkers, Ellen Braae and Niels Grønbæk at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Art, Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation (KADK). Jørgen Eskemose Andersen led the proceedings with special guest Júlio Carrilho from Universidade Eduardo Mondlane, Maputo. Printed copies of the thesis can now be found in relevant libraries, some copies yet to be sent and received in Northern Mozambique. Here is an online overview presentation on the thesis and below some photographs from the proceedings. (Thank you Sandra Gonon for photographs.) Some of the fieldwork material will be part of an exhibition at KADK starting next week.

    Dear Silje,
unfortunately I discovered your blog just one month ago when your research in Mozambique was already over. I’ve read at your articles with attention and interest. I studied architecture in Lisbon and I’m fully in love with vernacular architecture and portuguese architecture heritage around the world.
Is it possibile to have a copy of your thesis?
